G8 WATCH FOR SCHOOLS
Jubilee Scotland will be running the G8
WATCH FOR SCHOOLS programme in the run-up to the G8 summit
in Germany this summer.
2007 could be another big milestone in the fight
against poverty. It will be two years since the G8 leaders were
called on to Make Poverty History. This year, the G8 Summit is
back in the news, and poverty is back on the agenda.
But...
Who exacty are the G8 and what do they
do?
What has happened since 2005 and the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign?
What can we do to influence their decisions?
And does it make any difference anyway?
G8 WATCH FOR SCHOOLS will be answering all these
questions, and more.

ACTIVITY:
Calling
all young global citizens!
The
campaign symbol of the G8 will be red balloons. Why
not get your students to write a message, in English
or German, to the G8 leaders?
They can
write their message on luggage tags, which we will
attach to the red balloons of the G8 rally in Rostock,
Germany. All participating schools will receive a
follow-up briefing, including photos of their message
being taken to the G8.
