Jubilee Scotland campaigns for 100% debt cancellation for the world's poorest countries. We believe:

1. Debt relief works
2. Debt relief would enable poor countries to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. To reach these internationally agreed goals, the poorest countries will require economic justice through 100% debt cancellation, trade justice and an increase in aid.
3. It is a poor country's right to fund basic social needs before debt repayment.
4. International lenders and debtor country governments must work together. Future financial stability for poor countries can be achieved by ensuring:

• These countries have the capacity to manage their debt
• Civil society in indebted countries has an increased role in decision making
• That governments are accountable to their citizens, and that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund act democratically and openly, and are accountable to all citizens of the world
